BIOGRAPHY
I was born at the mid-point of the 20th century as the third child of a family that would eventually expand to ten children.
We lived thirty miles outside of Chicago, IL and though we only had two acres ourselves, we were surrounded by farmland. There I grew up as a country girl.
Besides having a pet raccoon that I carried up and down the rural roads in the basket of my bicycle, I grew lots of flowers and vegetables, played in haymows, chased the pigs in their pigpens, rode horses bareback as well as saddled, climbed trees, played hide and seek in the corn fields, made snow forts and had snowball fights, spent many a summer day playing baseball, volleyball or swimming and did other things that country kids do for fun. I also read a lot of books, drew, painted, sculpted and taught myself to type. I was in 4-H where I learned how to cook and sew and was so proud the year my sunflowers took 1st place in the county fair.
I got a scholarship to an art camp for a poster contest that I entered and even got a scholarship for college, but rather than pursue my art I opted for Psychology and Biology. I wanted to know how the mind worked and how the body worked more than I wanted to do my art.
Disillusioned and confused after two years of college and under the influence of drugs and alcohol, I was done with my formal education. I left school with four friends and headed to Colorado to start life.
There I came across something that changed my life forever, a book that told me how the mind worked and showed workable ways to help get rid of unwanted, negative emotions and behaviors (unlike the Psychology texts that I had studied where there were lots of theories, but no practical data or ways to handle what was wrong with one's thinking or acting).
It also said how drugs messed up the mind and showed how one could get rid of their effects and be more clear in one's thinking. This made a lot of sense to me, I quit the drugs and alcohol and studied all I could get my hands on along this line.
Through the years, while raising and homeschooling my five children, I continued to study more about the mind and used what I learned to be more and more successful in dealing with the stresses of married life, motherhood, running my own businesses and working for others.
I also found that my abilities increased and I was more and more willing to take on new things, learn new things and have new experiences.
My life became an exciting adventure, a constant creative experience, a way to expand and learn new things rather than a humdrum, boring existence dictated by others.
Because of what I know, have experienced and done, I feel qualified to turn around and help others be more successful in life.
